HELLO EARTH-WARRIOR!
Welcome to THE website of environmental and climate action. Here you find useful information about complex problems and how we could solve them as well as simple action we all can do in our daily lives.
Enjoy!
What is the GREENHOUSE EFFECT?
The greenhouse effect is a natural process where atmospheric gases—such as carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor—trap heat radiating from Earth's surface, preventing it from escaping into space. This trapped infrared radiation warms the atmosphere and surface, maintaining a temperate climate suitable for life. Without it, Earth’s average temperature would be below freezing. (NASA)
While the natural greenhouse effect is necessary, human activities—primarily burning fossil fuels—have significantly increased the concentration of these gases. This "enhanced" greenhouse effect prevents too much heat from escaping, leading to increased global temperatures and climate change. (NASA)

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS
The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer (128 pages)
This book is a short but profound book that uses the act of harvesting serviceberries as a starting point to explore themes of respirocity, gift economies and abundance in nature.
Robin Wall Kimmerer, an Indigenous botanist, combines personal storytelling with Indigenous lore and ecological insights to show that natural resources should be viewed as gifts rather than commodities. She focuses on the importance of community and relationship to achieve true abundance, as it is built on mutual care and sharing. This book compares this worldview with the modern economic systems while advocating for a shift toward gift economies that align with nature's principles.
Opinion: a super nice and easy-to-understand book to get started with the field of respirocity and gift economies. Since it is pretty short in pages, it is a good book for people who usually don't read as often, but still want to learn about how economies are built and the importance of community.
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer (400 pages)
Braiding Sweetgrass, I would say, is similar to The Serviceberry but with a much deeper insight to these topics, plus some more in addition. It is a poetic blend of science, Indigenous wisdom and personal stories. It teaches that humans should live in harmony with nature, giving back as much as we take and never taking too much from the earth than it provides. Through stories like the Haudenosaunee creation myth of the Skywoman, she shows how we are all connected and that true abundance comes from gratitude and respirocity with the earth.
Opinion: I am not finished with this book yet, but it already has my (almost) full attention. Every time I start reading it, I get more excited about what next topics there might be that enlighten me more and more. It is a bit more scientific I would say, compared to The Serviceberry, but it is totally readable for people who do not come with a scientific background. Recommend 10/10!
How to make SEEDBOMBS
You need:
3 parts soil (normal plant soil)
2 parts clay-powder
1 part native wildflower-seeds (make sure to use seeds from NATIVE plants)
a little water
First you put the soil through a sieve so it gets fine. Then mix the soil with the seeds and the clay powder. After that, carefully mix water into the mixture, bit by bit, until you reach a crumbly, dough-like consistency. It should neither be too wet nor too dry. If you can form little, walnut-sized balls and they stick together, without being too sticky, it should be totally fine! Now place the balls on a rack or plate and leave them on a cool and ventilated place for around 2 days so the balls dry.
Finally, put on your favorite climate rebel fit, walk through a desert-like city that is filled up with concrete and throw these bombs on the last free soil spots that are left - so nature can reclaim this sad place, adding some colors and life to it!
